Short Bio
Elena Mogilyansky (née Jelena Mastrikova) is a 4th year PhD student in the Genetics, Genomics and Cancer Biology Program at Jefferson Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (Thomas Jefferson University). Currently her research interests include non-coding RNAs and their role in human health and disease and her Ph.D. thesis topic is BRCA2 post-transcriptional regulation in pancreatic cancer. Elena Mogilyansky holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology from University of Latvia (Riga, Latvia). She also graduated from Thomas Jefferson University with Master Degree in Science (M.S.) with Jefferson College of Graduate Studies Academic Achievements Award and Jefferson College of Graduate Studies Alumni Thesis Award. Elena is also a winner of the Thomas Jefferson University Chapter Sigma Xi Student Research Day Poster Competition (2010). She has combined 12 years of work experience in Diagnostic Clinical Laboratories. She is fluent in Latvian, Rusian (native) languages. She is a member of the Scientific Research Society Sigma Xi since 2010.
