Short Bio
Dr. Morichika joined Dr. Kirino’s lab at 2014 as a postdoctoral researcher. His research is focused on developmental biology and his research interests include the specification of germline cells and more specifically, the underlying piRNA mechanisms. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Hyogo. As a Ph.D. student, he analyzed the role of Notch signaling in primordial germ cells of Xenopus laevis and discovered that Notch signaling disturbances cause mislocalization of primordial germ cells. After graduation, as a postdoctoral researcher, he worked on Oct60 transcription in oocytes and Oct60 function during primordial germ cell formation.
