Short Bio
Arsalan Farooqi is a first-year medical student in the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. At SKMC, Arsalan is involved with JeffHOPE, providing acute care services to patients at Prevention Point Philadelphia. He is also a member of JeffReads—reading to children at the Nemours outpatient pediatric clinic in Center City. Going forward, Arsalan will be working alongside Dr. Rigoutsos and Dr. Marco Tigano (MitoCare Center, Thomas Jefferson University), elucidating the mitochondrial nucleic acids’ contribution to cytosolic pathways of immunity and their influence on the prognosis of breast cancer patients. As a physician, Arsalan hopes to serve as an emergency room physician within an academic setting and continue exploring his research interests in mitochondrial physiology.
